Theater Mimart, one of the first alternative theaters in ex-Yugoslavia was established in 1984 in Belgrade. Nela
Antonovic, founder and director of MIMART explores through trans-media way along with assembled artists through
open process. The focus of our work is the phenomenon of society, because contemporarily is defined by various
phenomena: geo-political, social, economical, technological, environmental media, communicational and cultural. In
the era of universal aspiration towards visualization and spectacle as a model of social and cultural life, in its sole
discretion MIMART Theatre is searching for the meaning of contemporary art. Non-verbal theater transcends all
barriers: language, geographic, political, ethnic, social...
Theater Mimart working continuously for over three decades, regardless of political, economic, social and other
circumstances, which have a direct impact on aspects of sustainability. Through teamwork, higher education,
artistic, organizational and other capacities with method Mimart we succeeded to ensure implementation of the
action with competences and meet our project goals. We have realize more than 60 theater performances, over 400
performance Arts and street art projects, over 100 open workshops for young people, students, dancers, actors,
citizens, young artists and workshops integration. We organized festivals, lectures, debates, topical discussions,
photo exhibitions, video art presentations and exhibition of artifacts. We participated in many intercultural projects
and theater or multimedia festivals abroad more than 30 times.
The experience of many years of research work Nela Antonović has published in books Mimart godovi, 2000;
about Methodology of MIMART is elaborated in the book Phenomenology of Movement, 2004; Phenomenology of
an open process, e-book "25" in 2009; and e-Monograph 2014, about Method Mimart in no formal education of
Youth.
